The competition for the German Riesling Producer Prize is organised every two years by the Federal ‘Pro Riesling’ Association. In 2005, 105 wine estates (with a total of 351 wines) from the Mosel-Saar-Ruwer (MSR) wine-growing region took part in the regional tasting competition. Depending on estate size, three or six wines were to be entered in order to arrive at an average for each estate. The jury ‘blind-tested’ and evaluated the wines in line with a 20-point system. All estates achieving 14.5 points or over went through to the final round.
We were awarded 16.1 points and third place on the basis of the following wines:
2003 Piesport Goldtröpfchen Riesling Spätlese Trocken (5/04)
2003 Piesport Goldtröpfchen Riesling Kabinett (6/04)
2003 Piesport Goldtröpfchen Riesling Auslese (14/04)
In the final round our wine estate was placed in the category ‘EXCELLENT’.
